On “Acid Room” discordant arpeggiation goes hand in hand with garbling synths to complete the claustrophobic atmosphere, while Stanny Fransen and Soren Aalberg turn up the acid index on their remix of the opening track, inserting creeping riffs and whipping up a psychotic frenzy.

Tom Laws’ style always finds a welcome home here at Respekt, and this time he has dived deep into the abyss of sound to bring us this EP. Steamrolling right from the beginning, the opening track chugs into the midnight air while ominous pads make a terrifying appearance over the acid- tinged bassline. Subtle percussion that could be mistaken for robotic critters, provides even more thrust and metallic stabs from the netherworld hold things down. Alex Bau completely flips the script and provides a murky, underwater affair where everything is subliminal and layered under thick, dismal atmospherics. A true lesson in the dark arts.Closing up with “Sacrastrofy” we are treated to an almost anthemic, cyclic riff over the usual Tom Laws trickery, and out of nowhere, big chords start their own intricate progression.

It’s the quirky synth work of the original mix that sets the whole affair apart, while otherworldly audio manipulation ensures that the trademarked Spektre vibe is held intact. Axel Karakasis emphasizes on the effects, and transforms the leads into terror-sonar callings, creating a tense, claustrophobic atmosphere. Hollen, on the other hand, tones things down a bit with his subliminal approach and almost jacking groove, which make it all come together in a dubbier fashion.
