What better way to welcome the New Year than with a bang? Thats precisely why we once again got the extraordinary Edu Imbernon on board to follow up on last years outstanding Mystery Inside. On Leopard, Edu teams up with Barcelona residents Los Suruba and the vocal talent Daniel Wild to dazzling effect. The original mix kicks off the A-Side with shuffling rhythms and atmospheric pads that make way for a beautiful synth bass-line, echoing bells and Wildes sensuous voice, driven forward by a sharp snare. Striking a perfect balance between restraint and euphoria, we are invited on a dreamy musical journey that arrests both, body and soul. On the flip, things get colourful on Boy Next Doors remix of Leopard as neon disco chords lighten up a deep bass-line, while Wildes vocals are given ample room to work their magic. Last but not least, Sascha Braemer & Dan Caster create something entirely different by pitching down the vocals, replacing the originals synths with enchanting guitar loops and steely high hats. Theres a storm brewing on Stil vor Talent this summer! After stellar 12 by Edu Imbernon & Triumph and Niko Schwind, were soaking your senses with a wonderfully wide-ranging split-EP courtesy of the Swiss boys Animal Trainer and The Koletzkis groove machine Björn Störig. On After Monday, Animal Trainer let us know how they feel on a Tuesday: ready for the next party, apparently. While mellow vocal samples hum over dreamy synth pads, the tracks enormous bass-line betrays the duo love for a good party, much to the listeners delight. Gone 4 Ever carries on the sonic theme seamlessly, but adds colourful strings, soft cowbells and an Italo-esque bass-line for some feel-good disco bliss. Björn Störig works his percussive magic on the flip side. Thus, The Return of the Trompetenfrosch features rolling bongos floating over an airy House arrangement. The real winner is, of course, the trumpet here, which turns the track into a jazzy voodoo feast to get those butts shaking hypnotically. Rounding things off, Soul Survivor manages to be both, infinitely chilled out due to its esoteric use of the flute and piano, and enchantingly up-tempo through Björns impressive command over groove. Get some shelter, cos these tracks will spare no one.

Now, a year after he celebrated the success of his LP Good Morning Midnight, Niko Schwind ups the heat on Stil vor Talent with the versatile We are the Future EP that showcases a specatacular sonic progression while remaining true to what Niko does best: melodic house music. On All I Want, Niko lures you into a deep abyss aided by a straight groove and rapid vocal stutters until a swampy bassline, subtle piano melodies and a promiscuous female voice swallow you to the point of no return. Beautifully melancholic, yet floorfriendly, this A1 is bound to leave its mark on international dance floors. The same can certainly be said of We are the Future, a Schwind anthem that boils over with positive engery. While the excellent percussion highlights Nikos craftsmanship, Lil Magdalenes jazzy voice should enchant even the biggest doubter. The flip side is equally rewarding: while a cheerful interplay between a piano-based groove, serious bass line, choppy vocals and one hell of a break invites us all to throw our hands in the air on Fellow, the final track Get Down should literally take down the last man standing at the after hour due to dubby chords and wonky snyths. The future is looking bright this summer!

The first part of his big city tale entitled Großstadtmärchen acted like a catapult for Oliver Koletzki in 2009, pushing him from the DJ booth into the limelight of electronic pop music. Now, three years later, Oliver releases a sequel to the successful long player in the form of Großstadtmärchen 2. In addition, Stil vor Talent is presenting its second jam-packed double vinyl remix package of some of the albums many highlights. While Oliver Koletzkis funky beats and Jake the Rappers charismatic musings on how to best treat everyones favourite vital organ already provided one of the wittiest moments of Großstadtmärchen 2, Fifty Ways to Love Your Liver gets a well deserved club treatment on the first vinyl. Starting things off, Berlin/Cologne boys Andhim transform the track into a slow grooving monster that borrows the originals warming saxophone and Jakes vocal hooks and marries them with a big bass line and quirky synths. Following the original mix, the flipside bares Murat Kilic take, which ups the tempo into butt shaking tech house territory, while adding a classic filter house touch thanks to its killer piano workout. Try standing still to this! Finally, Animal Trainer take you on a journey of echoes, stumbling beats and romantic melodies that should get any floor excited due to its deep bass line. On the second vinyl Oliver Koletzki once again showcases his favourites of the album in their original mixes. It should come as no surprise that he picked The Power of Rausch featuring Nagel: the combination of the literary talents trippy after hour monologue and Olivers equally sketchy beats and guitar loop are both, incredibly innovative and effective. Bohlweg is Olivers homage to his hometown of Braunschweig. Originally included on the bonus edition of the LP, the track bedazzles with grooving percussion and quirky vocal snippets. Next up, the uplifting Sunset presents Oliver and his wife Fran on top form as we are treated to three minutes of pure bliss reminiscent of their hit Hypnotized. Last but not least, Olivers very own exercise in Daft Punk-style house rounds of this killer package as the distinctly French sounds of 1994 come flying through the speakers.

The best things come in threes: after his recent success with the The Devil in Me, a glorious collaboration with Oliver Koletzki as part of Großstadtmärchen 2, and the Big Jet Plane EP for our good friends at Dantze, poster-boy Jan Blomqvist presents his first 12 on Stil vor Talent, Ink. Things kick off with the title track, whose classic song structure and romantic melodies rub elegantly against tougher, sometimes distorted electronic percussion to create a tension that would be at home on a Radiohead LP. Moreover, Inks arrangement is both, complex and flawless, thus granting Jans longingly sung vocals to unfold beautifully. For the next track, Something Says, Blomqvist strips his sound down to create a dance floor ready excursion in rhythm that patiently leads towards an epic climax of washed out piano melodies, spurred on by his trademark whispers. Things get trippy on the flip for Awake Blomqvist layers vocals snippets over skittering percussion until were treated to a surreal story of insomnia, underpinned by a strong guitar loop. Just like a tattoo, Blomqvists Ink will get straight under your skin and leave a lasting impression.
